Warren Township’s own 7th Grade Creston Middle School football team capped off its season by going undefeated at a record of 8-0.  The 28-man roster was small in numbers but played like a team possessed all season. This amazing 7th grade football team had a nice mix of size, speed, and athleticism.  Coach Matt Apple and his assistant coaches Scott Opal and Sammie Williams orchestrated great practice and game plans putting the pieces in all the right places. It was a dominating season, Creston won each game by at least 2 touchdowns.  4 of the 8 games were of the shutout variety. This young group of studs will be honored at halftime during Creston’s first home basketball game November 14th against Northview Middle School.  It is then Athletic Director Taylor Treesh will unveil the undefeated banner given to any Creston athletic team that has an undefeated season.

Game by Game highlights from the season:

August 17th @ Belzer: Creston came out strong in its season opener dominating Belzer from start to finish. The Indians scored on their first offensive play of the season, a 30 yard burst up the middle. 5 plays later the defense scored its first touchdown of the season off a 10-yard fumble return. The defense dominated all game with big hits and many turnovers. The offense was well balanced scoring touchdowns on the ground and in the air. Creston finish the game with 1 rushing touchdown and 3 passing. Final score: Indians 30 Bruins 0

August 22th v. Greenfield Central:  In our home opener it didn’t take long for the Indians to establish its dominance. Creston returned the opening kickoff 65 yards to take an early lead. The defense showed up and showed out again as Greenfield was held to negative yardage in the first half. It was a game that saw the reserves enter the game early as Creston led 20 to 0 after the first 12 minutes of the game. Greenfield was overwhelmed by the Indians size and speed the entire game.  Final score: Indians 28 Cougars 8

August 26th @ Doe Creek: Doe Creek was arguably the best opponent Creston faced all season. It was a game that saw our defense struggle with the read option. Doe Creek gashed us with a few big runs that caused for several in game adjustments from the coaching staff. Our defense once again was able to capitalize from turnovers, returning an interception 90 yards for a touchdown.  Offensively, Doe Creek had a difficult time stopping our vertical passing game and jet sweeps. A well balanced rushing and passing game proved too much for a solid Bucks team. Final score: Indians 36 Bucks 22

August 31st @ Eastwood:  TOTAL DOMINATION!!! Eastwood’s only bright spot was every player left the field healthy. Fresh off a solid week of practice, the Indian defense returned to its dominant form. It was a defense that held Eastwood to negative yardage for the entire game. BIG HITS ALL GAME!!! Led by an angry defensive line that penetrated an inferior offensive line all game. They made life miserable for the Eagle’s run and pass game.  Playing on a short field, the offense scored a lot of points but did not gain much yardage from the line of scrimmage.  It was a business trip to the north side and the mission was accomplished. Final Score Indians 40 Eagles 0

September 14th @ Center Grove Central: This game was highlighted all season as our GAME OF THE YEAR!!! However, that was not the case. After falling behind 6-0, the Indians kicked into overdrive. The Indians opened up the pass game, throwing for well over 200 yards. We scored on 3 long touchdown passes of over 40 yards. The ground and pound game of the Trojans was quickly dismantled after the first drive as our defense lived in the backfield all game. In one of the hardest hitting games I’ve seen from a 7th grade football team the Indians left the field with another dominating performance.  Credit the coaching staff for a well-executed game plan against our townships arch-rivals. Final Score: Indians 32 Trojans 6

September 19th v. Stonybrook: Township rival Stonybrook came into the game with a lot of confidence riding a 2 game winning streak. In our first PINK OUT game, Stonybrook quickly found out that the Indians were no joke!! The scoring started early and often as the Indians scored on a long bomb on the second play of the game. The defense once again lived up to its “wrecking crew” status accumulating double figure tackles for loss. Final Score: Indians 32 Red Storm 14

September 23rd v. Fall Creek: In the Indians final PINK OUT/HOME GAME, the Indians left no doubt that they wanted to leave the field one more game from an undefeated season. This was the second game of the season where the defense held a team to negative yardage the entire game.  It was a dominating game that allowed every player to see the field for significant playing time.  A game that could have been much worse than what the score indicated, props go out to Coach Apple for playing everyone in the final home game of the season. Final Score: Indians 28 Bearcats 0

September 27th @ Raymond Park:  TOWNSHIP GAME OF THE YEAR!!! Built up with so much hype! It was the 5-2 Rangers v. 7-0 Indians.  In by far Creston’s best game of the season, Raymond Park received a Mike Tyson first round knockout! The Indians scored on every offensive possession. Passing or Running, whatever play was called it was executed to perfection.  Creston humiliated a high powered Ranger team that put up 74 points in a game this season. Creston rushed for over 250 yards and passed for over 100 yards leaving the field in dominating fashion. Capping off a memorable season!!!  Final Score: Indians 44 Rangers 0

Congratulations Creston Indians 8-0!!!!!!!
