The 2017 Franklin Community Middle 7th grade Football team recently finished its season with a perfect 9-0 record.  The team captured its first Mid-State Conference title in over 20 years, wrapping up the championship against a previously unbeaten Plainfield team with a 32-0 victory. The Franklin “B” team also finished its season with a perfect 6-0 record.

After winning the Border Wars championship and finishing runner-up in the Crossroads Classic tournament as 6th graders, the kids, coaches and parents were looking forward to the 7th grade season and the boys did not disappoint. With a great combination of size and speed, Franklin outscored its opponents by a 255 to 37 margin in the “A” games and 118 to 40 in “B” games.

The coaches were very proud of how this group supported each other regardless of who was on the field. In total, 11 different players found the end zone at some point during the season led by a strong performance by the dominant offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, the team created at least one turnover in every game. After the final game of the season, Franklin High School Coach, Chris Coll spoke to the team about the importance of not allowing this season to be the highlight of their careers. He prepared them for hard work that will be required for them to continue to compete at a high level as they head into future seasons.
